About Groucho's Comedy

Larry Silver began his career in entertainment when he auditioned for a play at the Barn Theatre in Stuart, FL. "This is what has been missing from my life," stated Silver. When not appearing on stage he worked, Lights, Sound and then Directing 2 out of 2 sold out hits. But, community theatre doesn't pay. He then started booking entertainment in 1982 when he noticed that people were standing in long lines at one of the only two Movie Theaters in Stuart to see, "Smokey & the Bandit Part II" when it came around for the 2nd time. A short lived After Hours Jazz Club in Stuart featuring Live Entertainment was about "15 years ahead of it's time", Silver says.

However he continued to do Theatre at the local community theatres and "Open Mic" Nights at local Bars and, then moved on to Professional Theatre and Television.

He opened his first "Groucho's Comedy Club" in Stuart, FL in 1990. Another weekend club in Melbourne, FL followed in 1991 with a long running weeknight in Cocoa Beach in 1994.

All the while continuing to open more and more Comedy Nights throughout Florida while working on various Television film and commercials both local and International like, Miami Vice, FUJI Film & Miller Lite to name just a few. He still shoots a new 30: minute Infomercial on FOX 29 every week that airs twice a week...Since 1996. Over 700 30: minute commercials.

He incorporated Groucho's in 1993.

Groucho Productions, Inc. is one of the longest running Entertainment Producers in the south.

Groucho's has specialized in bringing Side-Splitting Professional, National Touring Comedians to Comedy Clubs throughout Florida Since 1986. Many of the acts have been seen on: THE TONIGHT SHOW, SHOWTIME, HBO, A&E'S EVENING AT THE IMPROV, Comedy Central, MTV, BET, VH-1 and, everywhere else that Live Comedy is showcased.

Many now famous comedians like, CARROT TOP & LARRY THE CABLE GUY began their careers at Groucho's Comedy Clubs in Stuart & Melbourne.
